Activity Leader's Guide to Online Activity Groups

Activity leaders can build an online community for their members through their online Activity group. Activity groups can be used for school clubs or student organizations. There are several different tools available to Activity leaders to build a dynamic online Activity group which can be used to keep your members focused and on task even when your Activity group might be unable to meet in person.

Activity Leaders can access their groups by selecting Faculty > Groups and choosing a group.

Select Enter Edit Mode to edit your Activity group's bulletin board by dragging and dropping content types onto the bulletin board. Your bulletin board can be populated with any content that pertains to your Activity group and members. Content types include Links, Photos, Videos, Downloads, News, Audio, Announcements, and Events. You also have access to an Embed widget which you can use to include an RSS feed on your Bulletin board. Use Preview page to preview any changes you have made and select Publish layout changes or Publish layout & go to page when you have finished editing your bulletin board.

Topics allow you to create separate pages for content. In Academics, these are typically used for units of study but these can be used for meeting minutes, weekly activities, individual events, etc. For example, if you are running the school's drama club, you may have separate Topics for each show, your warm-ups, and upcoming fundraisers.

To add a new Topic, use Create Topic and provide a title and cover photo for your topic as well as set the publishing, sharing, and import options for the topic. Under Roster, you can see the Students that make up your activity. You can also:

  • Manage your roster to add or remove Students.

    Tip: Only available if your school allows Activity leaders to edit their own rosters.

  • Send communication to your roster, parents, or all(students and their parents).

  • View various roster reports.

  • View student profiles.
