Connect to a Payment Terminal

You connect to the BBPOS Chipper™ 2X BT payment terminal via Bluetooth from the app.

Note: You must pair the BBPOS Chipper 2X BT Payment Terminal in the Blackbaud MobilePay Terminal app, not through your device’s Bluetooth Settings. If the terminal is already paired, open your device’s Bluetooth Settings, forget the device, then return here to connect.

  1. Enable Bluetooth on your device. From Settings, select Bluetooth, and turn the feature on.

  2. Open the Blackbaud MobilePay Terminal app and log in.

  3. Turn the payment terminal on.

    4. Note: When the BBPOS Chipper 2X BT payment terminal is initially powered on, it is automatically discoverable for Bluetooth device connections.

  4. Select Get started to open the Discovering screen.

    5. The app discovers available terminals. The terminal name that shows on the list is also displayed on the terminal device.

  5. Select your payment terminal. If it’s not listed, make sure it’s turned on and in discovery mode.

    6. Note: The connection will not succeed if your terminal is paired to your device's Bluetooth settings.

    Note: If you connect to the wrong terminal, select the terminal name on the Payment screen, then select Switch terminal. The app enters discovery mode and displays a list of available terminals.

    If updates are required for your terminal, the Blackbaud MobilePay Terminal prompts you to apply them.

  6. Select Update Now to apply the update or Update Later to apply the update later.

    Note: Blackbaud recommends installing updates as soon as they are available. If you choose to update the terminal later, you must complete the update by the date noted in the message.
