Blackbaud MobilePay Terminal™
With MobilePay Terminal, you can process credit card payments anywhere, anytime. Whether you’re at an off-site event or away from the office, all you need is a wireless or data connection and a payment terminal device. Plus, MobilePay Terminal integrates seamlessly with Blackbaud Merchant Services™, so you pay the same low rate on every transaction regardless of the credit card type.
MobilePay Terminal supports several payment terminal devices. Each device is EMV-certified, uses Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) to connect, and supports chip and contactless payments via Apple Pay, Google Pay, Samsung Pay, and most tap-to-pay cards.
For more information about payment terminal devices and how to order them, see Supported Payment Terminals.
To collect payments through MobilePay Terminal, you must purchase a pre-certified payment terminal device and install the MobilePay Terminal app. You'll also need:
-
A Blackbaud ID linked to an active Blackbaud Merchant Services account.
-
Permissions to access MobilePay Terminal.
-
An Apple or Android device with a wireless or data connection.
For more information, see Get Started with Blackbaud MobilePay Terminal™.
Note: Currently, MobilePay Terminal is only available for accounts that process in US or Canadian dollars.
-
For easy, secure access to the app, sign in to MobilePay Terminal with your Blackbaud ID. This is the same email address and password you use to access other Blackbaud solutions.
Note: Your Blackbaud ID must have MobilePay Terminal permissions. For more information, see Security.
-
Confirm the organization and account for which to process payments during your session. If you have access to multiple organizations or accounts, select Edit to switch between them.
Tip: For quicker sign in, the app saves your selections.
Note: If your Blackbaud ID isn't associated with any organizations, the app prompts you to request access from your organization's admin. After you receive access, select Refresh to continue.
-
The first time you sign in to MobilePay Terminal, you must also select an account configuration. If none exist, the app prompts you to create one through the web portal. For more information, see Account Configurations.
After you confirm settings, connect to a payment terminal to start taking payments.
Tip: To process with a different account configuration, from the app's menu, select Settings. To switch to a different organization or account, you must log out from the app. For more information, see Settings.
After you sign in, connect your payment terminal to your mobile device via Bluetooth.
Warning: For the BBPOS Chipper™ 2X BT, you must pair the payment terminal in the MobilePay Terminal app, not through your device’s Bluetooth settings. If the terminal is already paired, open your device’s Bluetooth settings, forget the device, then return to the app to connect.
-
From the Payment screen, select Connect. The app searches for available terminals and displays them in a list.
-
Select your payment terminal. If it isn't listed, ensure it’s powered on and in discovery mode. For additional assistance, see Payment Terminal Troubleshooting.
Tip: To switch to another terminal, select it from the list, then select Switch terminal.
-
If updates are required for your terminal, the app prompts you to install them. You can choose to update now or at a later time.
While Blackbaud recommends you install updates as soon as they're available, if you choose to update the terminal later, you must complete the update by the stated date.
After you connect, you're ready to collect payments!
-
From the Payment screen, enter an amount or choose from the default options.
Tip: To edit default amounts, from the app's menu, select Settings.
-
Select Collect payment.
-
To send an email receipt, enter the cardholder's name, email, and billing address. You can also add a comment if needed. When finished, select Continue.
Tip: Contactless cards and mobile wallets may not provide cardholder data. Complete these fields to save cardholder information.
-
Insert the card in the chip reader, tap the card on the payment terminal, or swipe the card (if applicable).
Note: MobilePay Terminal only accepts card present transactions.
