Executive Leadership Best Practices
To help ensure your organization's success, executive leadership can use Raiser's Edge NXT to quickly gauge its overall performance, even while on the go.
In Fundraising, Analyze or Reporting, executives can — at a glance — gauge your organization's overall performance under Overview.
-
Under Giving, analyze spikes or slumps in giving and identify your top fundraising efforts. Under Year over year performance, you can compare trends in annual giving over the current fiscal year to the previous two years, to analyze whether your fundraising's on track.
Tip: Admins! In the database view, choose the month your fiscal year ends in General from Configuration.
-
Under Donor lifecycle, determine how effectively you acquire and retain supporters. To track acquisition and retention over the past five years, analyze the timeline under Donor lifecycle over time.
Tip: To focus your analysis, such as for giving from specific time frames or the donor lifecycle of specific constituent codes, apply filters to include only the applicable records. For frequently-used filter selections, we recommend you save their view for your personal reuse. For more information, see Saved Views of Dashboards.
Note: Admins! In Control Panel, Security, you can set up which dashboards in Fundraising, Analyze your execs can use. For more information, see Reporting Rights.
For more information, see Fundraising Analysis Overview.
With campaigns, funds, and appeals, you can account for how you bring in and use the money received through gifts, and track the effectiveness of your fundraising efforts. In Fundraising, Analyze or Reporting, you can quickly assess the effectiveness of your campaigns, funds, and appeals, including how much they raise and their performance toward goals. You can also compare how donors — by constituent code or age group — give toward your fundraising efforts, as well as which types of giving contribute most to their success. For more information, see Campaigns Analysis, Funds Analysis, and Appeals Analysis.
Tip: To help gauge the performance of only annual fundraising efforts in Fundraising, Analyze, apply the Campaign category and Active filters under Campaigns. For more information, see Fundraising Analysis Recipes.
To view the record of a campaign, fund, or appeal, select its name. From the record, you can view details about the fundraising effort and its performance, such as how much it raised, its donors' demographics, and who's assigned to secure its gifts. To help focus your analysis, select Filters on the record to include only received or committed revenue or gifts from a specific time period, such as This month or Last fiscal year. To open the record, select View record. For more information, see Campaign Records, Fund Records, or Appeal Records.
Tip: To help focus on only what matters to you, rearrange and show or hide information on the record of a campaign, fund, or appeal as necessary. To easily return to a record on a regular basis, bookmark it in your browser. You can also share its URL with others. For more information, see Records.
For a list of the gifts received toward or through a campaign, fund, or appeal, select the Revenue total at the top of its record. In the Constituent column, view who gave toward or through the fundraising effort. To include this column, elect Choose columns , Gift details, Constituent, and Apply changes.
For a list of records included in number-crunching, select its total or amount. For example:
-
For a list of retained or acquired donors, select its data point under Donor lifecycle on the Overview dashboard in Fundraising, Analyze or Reporting.
-
For a list of gifts received toward or through a campaign, fund, or appeal, select the Revenue total at the top of its record.
As you work with a list, you can fine-tune its criteria to view only specific records and information.
-
To save the list for future reference, select Create list and then choose Save, As a new list. For more information, see Lists.
-
To focus your analysis, select Filters and choose the criteria of the records to include in the list. When you apply filters, their selected criteria appear at the top of the list. To adjust a filter, select its criteria and edit as necessary. To quickly remove a filter from a list, select its Delete . For more information, see List Filters.
-
To view a list of constituents on a map, select Map and then Zoom out to include everyone. Powered by Microsoft Bing, the map displays the locations of constituents — as pins — based on their primary addresses. For more information, see Constituent Map.
Note: Admins! In Control Panel, Security, you can set up which lists your execs can use. For more information, see List Rights.
